Here is Part 2 of how to learn to play Magic the Gathering.

Recap of the video:

Various types of cards in Magic the Gathering:

  • Land- Lands are used to to “power up” your cards. Only 1 can be played per turn
  • Sorcery- One shot deal, once it’s played, it goes to your graveyard/ discard pile.
  • Instant- Same as a sorcery card, except it can be played at any time you want.
  • Enchantment- Almost like an instant or sorcery, except it is a permanent… it won’t go to your graveyard unless it’s gotten rid of.
  • Artifacts- Stay in play once you play them, like enchantments. Artifacts are colorless cards, and can go in any type of decks
  • Creature- Real building block of the game. Creature cards have 2 numbers in the bottom right corner of the card, which represent power and toughness.
    Other notes:

  • Tapping- Turning a card 90 degrees. Means you’ve used the card, and cannot be used until your next turn. Tapping land cards give you one mana of that particular land type.
  • At the beginning of your turn, you get to untap any of your cards that are currently tapped, unless otherwise specified.
